Anthropocene Anecdote

Earth

The ball of life

Water coated mud

Sand edged tears

With physics

We enter the

Labyrinthine terrain

Cosying up

To the shimmy

Of life as it

Dances on our eyes

We write it down

Our science becomes

Our sacred creed

Relax people

The ball is under

The gaze of the rational

Economy will

Provide a guide

To ensure we make

Our way over

The sea of money

That is surely greater

Than any physics

Let’s make money

From this ball

And then

Make up excuses

About how smart we

We are

At heaven’s gate

We hear about

The plague

Of vermin

That ate the

Ball

Of mud and water

Their faint inaudible

Screeching heard

For one second

Then the ball

Continued

On its cycle

In the dance of

The sun
