Care Work is not suited to waged labour

A vocation is a calling and a human centred motivation that has benefits for social relations and productive capacity. We are stronger organisationally because we have vocational energy.

The vocational profile cannot be controlled. We control pathology, that is an agency [like virus] that we fear and cannot predict to satisfy our narrow and often immediate interests.

All human potential is valuable. The wage contract does not wish to engage the whole human it wishes to control the human potential to perform specified acts in specified modes at specified clock times. It is a regulation process and not a creative process. As Taleb observes it is a slave mindset, it has no skin in the game.

Care must be based on a self-managed model. A model taking a free healthy client and free motivated carer to a point of mutual beneficial engagement. The carer-client nexus is a true exchange, an organic interaction that reflects human centred contracting. Upon this nexus all other services and interventions can be maintained as human centred.

The waged worker in care is itself a pathological entity and it is the worker who needs the care of the labour market station of low pay versus no pay. Of job status and recognition versus isolation. The care sector is dominated by such labour. There is insufficient caring and too much therapeutic employment. The waged care worker is deriving beneficial value from the care setting which can be enhanced by the care given and the cared for subject. However, that is a by product of the service not its purpose. The waged worker is governed by duties and regimes before the substance of caring. The Waged care system is a containment system utilising incarceration and containment with smatterings of therapy. The waged care worker is charged with achieving care outcomes without a care strategy or operating model.

Care must be energised by human motives and based on self acting human contact. A Self-managed model is one that contains organic values and allows material outcomes associated with employment.
