The Planet of Machines is sponsoring mining projects in what humans call space.
Space is not a place. It is not empty or devoid of matter. All being forms are matter in relationship to other being forms.
The human has evolved a capacity to alter energy exchange by acting upon other being forms.
Human narrative relays exciting predictions about mining on planets in space. Since the earth emerged from activity in the universe (or as human folklore refers to it ‘space’) it is not surprising that future experiences for humans and other being forms will continue to involve engaging with these same being forms and in new energy equations.
As we were made from that process, so we will engineer new futures from those same processes. I suggest that is the ‘role’ that humans have within the pattern of evolution that drives the earth system and its sub-systems. We are the catalyst for evolving patterns of life and environments. It is only in the human sphere of existence that climate change means anything. For earth it means nothing, it is existentially the state of ‘being earth’.
Humans explain the possible activity of some humans on other planets as an ‘adventure’ meaning a human experience at the edge of experience and without precedent or conventional form. For some it is the quest for what is labelled ‘knowledge’ and for others it is the quest for what is referred to as ‘wealth’. Those humans who may eventually live / dwell on other planets will experience their ‘beingness’ in that environment. That experience will not be materially or theoretically comparable.
Political social organisations such as US, Russia plus Europe, China and possibly India are shaping up to expand activity on planets. Perhaps a Brexit inspired UK will figure more prominently than hitherto. Earth society seems to be moving into a new era of land / matter / energy capture as a basis for progress. Any concept of progress will be shattered by the immensity of the universal migration of a ‘species force’ on to a path of infinite possibilities. That ‘species force’ cannot be human. Today the human would call that ‘species force’ ‘machine’.
This would be accompanied by economic, political, and cultural artefacts designed to explain those adventures to human earthlings. Human earthlings if they exist will have an externalised body experience separating them from the possibilities of being a ‘species force’. So today we will send machines to other planets. Tomorrow in 2050 or 2100 or later machines will annotate the history of humans as residue.
The planet of machines is consolidating a narrative for expansion and the transformative energy of the human as a bioengineering catalyst.
