Cry the People

The democrats are crying

The people have spoken

In a manner of speaking

Determined by the

Democratic representatives

Why did they do this?

This feels treacherous!

I feel liberated

I want to shout out

You and you! I love

Your freedom to speak

But I did not want

You to leave us

I do not want to leave

Some of you

Democrats have left

Me sitting here

Decades in rainy shadows

The rain mingled with

My tears of isolation

I voted for you

You did not love me

You gave me papers

Queue’s that I could

Join and linger in

Like a worm eating mud

I feel democratic and I am

Crying

You democrats are crying because

We have spoken words

Of separation, of denial

We are joyous and you

Are angry with hot

Hard words that try

To belittle me, ‘the

Stupid and the dirty

Little Englanders!

Have sunk all our boats!

Why did they not see, the

Great danger lurking?

In their feelings

Now we are to

Be labelled brazen

Nazi’s or cast off

The beaches in our

Second Spanish home

We are not allowed to

Mention the war

We must be careful to

Not to look at anyone

For fear they take

A fright from our

Eyes or our smile

When the people speak the

Democrats cry

When the democrats speak the

People cry
